It went quite well thanks mate. Obviously tailed off during the football. Mad most of the money (unknown how much yet, until i count it, but over £100) on the fruit machine (some lucky woman had 6 pulls and got £4 out of us!) and the cards (only 2 ppl got the £3 prize).
Balloons: didnt sell that many, but there was someone else doing the same thing, but we CAN sell all of them by the time of the Bromley Heath festival (4 weeks time), when we'll be doing the same stuff.
Weather was good, well it was baking, and a big thanks to those who turned up. I do have something in mind as a thanks.
As for Jambo, the 3 ideas i/we have come up with so far for fundraising, as 5 are going (its got to be a record), are 1) a quiz night on friday 1st Sep 2) a district/county explorers party around xmas 3) Race night on friday 2nd feb
1 and 3 will be for friends/family. Prizes to be donated by local companies. The explorers going on Jambo (ie, Wheeler, Shrub, Emily F, Jess and Bouncer) will have to write to them (places like Vue, bowling, Tamarind, Bristol zoo etc) to say why we need the sponsership
We'll offer a bar at the quiz and race nights, which'll bring in money.
Thats the ideas so far anyway...

Hello, Yerr, i decided to get in before Shrub, If you want to know more about the world jamboree farmer can pay up a bit of money and join Jamboree Mate, it will help you gain an insight of what me, Shrub, and maybe jess and Emily unless they gave up, will be experiencing and give us help to get there ;D
It would be £20 to join, as a unit, or £10 for per person, As a single mate you will get Three newsletters- Autumn 2006, Winter 2006, and Spring 2007, A postcard from the jamboree, and a Jamboree report after it takes place,
were as if we join as a unit we get The three newsletters, A A3 version for each letter and event suitable for notice boards etc, A postcard, and a Jamboree Report,
Either way, it shows support as a unit, shows dedication to being an explorer, and most of all, helps me and shrub get to the Jamboree, to show how great we really are,
So buy one, and show the world we are the best ;D Haha, Corny..
PS I Win Shrub!

apprently if we approach downend and bromley heath parish council, they might give us some funding for the jambo, itd be better if everyone going got together and wrote a letter, it has to be in by november though, i think theres some smallprnt about having to do a presentation though =s

i was thinkin bout fundraisin dno how we are goin to do this by the way but, seeing as so many people in the unit like hiking. y dont we arrange to do a hike get sponsered that money then goes into unit or the jambo. random idea dno how it will work but its an idea. or to get more sponser we put like a percentage of the money towards the children hospital then more people might decide to sponser.

Not a bad idea Dan, but i have a serious problem with fundraising now due to the following happening this year (sorry its another moan):
North somerset show: 3 people turn up Mangotsfield festival: a better showing of about 10 Bromley Heath fest: everyone is given a sheet of 20 balloons to sell and only 1 person (Dan) sells any at all! We lose out on over £200, but again only about 5 people turn up Quiz in Sept: 6 members turn up Litterpicking today: again we have about 6 people coming (and only 3 including me and Laura, stay til the end at 11.30)
We have a unit of over 25 people now and we're getting less than 25% turning up to help and raise money for yourselves.
So can anyone tell me pls, why i should bother?! Should I cancel the bagpacking for Good Friday now? Do we want to do the North Somerset Show and both festivals? If not, how do we raise money?
Yes i'm moaning, but its always the same, we do fundraising and ppl dont turn up, say sorry and promise to come next time, but dont.
What if Bean or I decided not to turn up on Weds, because we 'didnt feel like it'? We dont get paid (as some people think we do)! We do it because we (and i think i speak on behalf of myself, Rob, Laura and Justin) enjoyed scouts and Venture Scouts when we were in units, and want other people to have the same experience growing up.
Bottom line is we're the BEST unit in the district, with a great reputation within the scouts, but we need to show it and we need to do it en mass at events.
Sorry - rant over!
If anyone wants to discuss, but doesnt want to do it on here, just phone / pm me or another leader/exec member
